On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the REALISTIC team would like to share the experience of Cristina Gil Díaz, a young woman researcher working in atmospheric sciences who did her PhD thesis at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, the main partner of Université de La Réunion in REALISTIC.
We have welcomed Cristina during 1,5 months in la Réunion last year in the framework of a secondment supported by the European Commission.
During her time in La Réunion, she shared her knowledge on a radiative-transfer model and provided training to our lab members.
Nowadays, women are still under-represented across many scientific and technological fields. Highlighting their achievements, supporting their ambitions, and building inclusive environments isn’t optional — it is essential.
To all the women in science — researchers, engineers, technicians, professors, students — your work matters. Your voice matters. Your place is earned.
Many thanks to the Direction de l’Audiovisuel, du Multimédia et de l’Accessibilité Numérique (DAMAN) and the Service Egalité at Université de La Réunion for making this interview happen.
